Listed Building - Grade II*
Roger Mears Architects LLP , 19 Compton Terrace , London , N1 2UN , United Kingdom
Tudor House is a Grade II* listed house, dating from 1717, the pride of the Cadogan Estate. much altered over the years, including by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1905. The artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti lived and worked in the house for 25 years and it bears a blue plaque to that effect. The house was given a major overhaul as a single family dwelling. It was in need of careful conservation and repair and reinstatement of missing fabric; its layout was sensitively modified to suit today's needs and its services were fully upgraded at the same time. The project required extensive negotiations with the Conservation Officer and English Heritage, but as the high conservation content of the work and the overall improvements to the house were accepted as being highly desirable the negotiations were entirely successful.
