Steep House is a traditional Cotswold property is located in Chalford, Stroud. The project included a large extension and works throughout the existing house, together with an underground garage, to capitalise on the stunning views across the Golden Valley. An oak framed glazed gable, with a feature cantilever roof terrace balcony, provides a modern yet sympathetic extension to the original house. Natural Cotswold stone and oak combine to give a timeless elegance, which together with carefully detailed windows and doors offers an exciting daylight filled home. The site neighbours the Chalford Conservation Area and the design makes reference to the distinctive Cotswold vernacular synonymous with the village. Modern elements are sensitively integrated with the traditional pitched roof forms including a glazed gable to a double height kitchen. As part of the sustainable design integrated solar PV panels provide electricity, while modern windows and doors help to reduce energy consumption and long term running costs.
