Blueboys House, Minchinhampton, near Stroud, is a Grade-II Listed historic Cotswold house. The project added a stunning contemporary glass extension to the traditional natural Cotswold stone. Simple and carefully crafted details create a timeless elegance. Thin framed sliding glass doors with a glass to glass detail at the corner open the space to the garden, with a seamless threshold between the inside and the outside. The design also includes a single slim steel post to maximise views from the new kitchen dining space. The sustainable design included high performance double glazed doors help to retain heat, while underfloor heating provides year round comfort. The elegance and lightness of the extension complements the original natural stone walls. This creates an interplay between old and new, with a daylight filled new living space attached to the more intimate and cosy spaces within the original traditional Cotswold house.
