On behalf of the Parish, in 1999 the Practice made an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund which proved successful. Safety works carried out in 2001-2 included the erection of scaffolding to the Apse bay 9 to allow the safe removal of the pinnacle apex stone. A further stage of safety works was carried out in May 2002 to remove/make safe loose stonework to the Apse and to provide temporary mortar cappings where finials were removed. The scope of the 2004 quinquennial repairs included replacement stone balustrade to south elevation and masonry repairs to the lower section of the west tower.
