Four new build secondary schools as part of a seven school Priority School Building Programme (PSBP) batch in Hertfordshire, Luton and Reading, funded through a Private Finance Initiative (PF2). Along with Interserve Kajima, we were successful in winning the HLR batch in 2014 and led the design and delivery of Bishop's Hatfield Girls' School, Hatfield [£10m]; Goffs Academy, Cheshunt [£15m]; Kings Langley School, Hertfordshire [£13m] and Stopsley School, Luton [£13m]. Each school is based on a set of standardised design principles developed during a research project with our industry partners in 2012 into optimum value school design. These principles have delivered high quality, cost-effective learning environments aligned to the EFA’s Facilities Output Specification whilst enabling each building to be tailored to the context and specific educational needs of each school. As PFI funded schools, each project needed to be delivered within a very demanding capital budget whilst minimising whole life costs for the 25-year FM contract. Working to BIM Level 2 we have we have maximised the continuity of components, systems, interface details and maintenance regimes across all seven schools. Silver award winner at the Partnerships Awards 2017, Best Education Project.
