A self-sustaining eco-village conceived with dwellings that can be adapted for the needs of different generations, along with energy-producing features intrinsic to the building form and façade design. The practice was commissioned to provide design proposals for the redevelopment of a greenfield site in Thurrock, Essex. Our brief was to prepare urban design proposals for a self-sustaining development consisting of a new football stadium sports hub with a gymnasium and sports hall, a community leisure centre, nursery, care home, and educational facility, set within a new residential development featuring 500 model homes based on eco-village and self-sustaining renewable energy principles.
