A three stage project, we completed the first stage in 2013, expanding the roof level service quarters of a substantial Victorian villa to form an impressive master suite with breath-taking views of the Peak District.  The project involved re-organising the space, incorporating two new Victorian style vaulted dormer windows into the roof and adding new electrically operated roof lights to let daylight and fresh air into the middle of the new space. The mixture of exposed structure and new contemporary finishes has created a pleasant mix of lustrous surfaces. We took the inspiration for the second phase, a new garage, from the Victorian coach houses of properties like this in South-West Sheffield. It is designed to accommodate up to 6 large cars including 3 on car lifts if required. The last phase replaces the rundown outbuildings with a contemporary ground floor extension housing a new swimming pool. In the summer, the bifold doors roll back to form an indoor / outdoor space that opens out into the garden.
