Our client instructed us to design and construct a single storey rear/side extension in place of the existing bomb shelter at the rear of the existing garage to the side extending the kitchen area and also a loft conversion. The client's main requirements for the rear extension were to enlarge the kitchen to incoperate a dining area and a seperate utility room. The loft conversion specification was to create a master bedroom and ensuite within the existing loft space with the addition of a small dormer window to the rear. The client requested that there were some enviromental and energy saving provisions were included in the design, so after reseaching for the best options avaliable it was concluded that solar panels were fitted to the roof of the new extension and a rainwater harvesting tank was installed to be able to recycle rainwater for use in the washing machine, toliets and external tap supply. The project was worked from concenption to completion on site. Planning permission was obtained for the extension and conversion and Building Control documenation was prepared. We then prepared working drawings and sent the project out to tender. Thoughout the project on site we administered the contract and provided valuations for payments to be issued.
