A developer approached us to work for them in producing the drawings required for them to construct the project. The site had been bought by the developer and a price agreed with a housing association to purchase the developement when completed. The project had been through the planning process with another Architects practice having approval for he basic scheme but they only did the planning aspect. We took the drawings that were granted planning and had to carry out alterations to get the proposals to work as intended and then prepare the working drawings for the developer from this. Our remit was to provide the developer with any information on the developement as well as working with the other consultants to complete the proposals. The curved fascades provided an interesting challenge from the norm and the site required for the developement a new electric sub station and water storage on site for the rain water. All aspects were cleared and built. The site was originally a industrial use and the buildign on the site removed to allow the edevelopement. The proposal was for four blocks of flats with the one to the front of the site as flats for sale to private owners with a shop unit on the ground floor. In the end the shop unit was discounted after the rest had been built and additional flats were built on the ground floor. The three other block were for a mixture of sized flats from two bed units, three bed units as a single level unit and some as a maiasonette layout. The small block of flats at the back of the site were designed for disabled use.
