Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area
Rider Stirland Architects, Unit 3 , Mercy Terrace , off Algernon Road , LONDON , SE13 7UX
We transformed a neglected warehouse apartment near the Thames into a light-filled, character-rich home. A new full-width dormer expanded the living space, while large glazed doors and steel-framed partitions maximise river views and echo the building’s industrial heritage. Exposed concrete, reclaimed brickwork, and textured plaster are balanced by warm oak flooring and bespoke joinery. Each room is designed with a tailored colour palette to suit its use and orientation. Located in a conservation area, the scheme combines sensitive restoration with smart spatial planning to create a distinctive, cohesive home with a strong sense of place and purpose.
