Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area, Listed Building - Grade II, New Build
AS FEATURED IN MARCH 2020 ISSUE OF 'REAL HOMES' The property is an existing detached 17th Century house Listed Grade II, standing within substantial garden; it has a historic timber frame with rendered elevations and a thatched roof. The condition of the property was poor. Investigation works were carried out to ascertain the extent of repairs required to safeguard the structural integrity of the building. The design requirement is to achieve our Clients accommodation requirements with an extension that is subservient to the Listed Building. To achieve this the design has an open plan living and kitchen area. There is a mezzanine floor with loft ladder access for storage purposes. The heating uses air source heat pump technology. The link to the farmhouse is designed to be through an existing window opening and removing the modern infill underneath. The link would be of structural glass as a contrasting glazed element. The building is designed to be sustainable with contrasting but natural materials. The walls are designed with silver larch timber boarding and the roof with a larch covering. A door leads out to the landscaped garden. The ground floor of the extension will be at even level with the existing building
