The Escape Competition 2004, sponsored by David Wilson Homes and judged by a panel including Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen, chose the Practice's design to be shortlisted to the top three of the first stage, out of over 50 entries. The Practice went through into the second stage of the competition, during which all three finalists gave presentations on their designs, as well as refining and costing the projects. The brief was to achieve an "innovative " solution to the need for high density housing, as per the Governments' PPG3 directive, and pre-fabricated, off site construction. The Practice's design, which came second in the competition, for ten, three bedroom four storey town houses with car parking for twenty two around a communal garden was described by "Building" magazine as a " bold, tightly planned scheme...perfect for urban sites."
