Bridgend
Suite 2.3, The Estate Office , 25-26 Gold Tops , Newport , Gwent , NP20 4PG , United Kingdom
The proposed project is a contemporary two-storey glass extension for a popular Italian restaurant located within the Bridgend Town Conservation Area. The design seeks to rejuvenate the riverside frontage along the Ogmore River, enhancing its appeal and activating the public realm. The project aims to attract increased pedestrian footfall and foster a sense of community along this underutilized stretch of the town. The extension will take the form of a transparent, glass-walled structure, offering unobstructed views of the Ogmore River and surrounding landscape. This allows for a seamless connection between the restaurant interior and the picturesque riverfront, creating a visually striking feature that will serve as a landmark within the conservation area. The glass façade will also serve as a beacon, encouraging both locals and visitors to explore the riverfront, further invigorating the town centre. In addition to the aesthetic and functional improvements to the restaurant, the project aligns with broader urban development goals. The scheme envisions the glass extension as a catalyst for future developments along the riverfront, transforming it into a vibrant gathering space for the community. The extended restaurant space will provide a welcoming environment where people can relax, dine, and enjoy the scenic surroundings, supporting the local economy and enriching the town’s cultural and social fabric. This project aims to blend modern architecture with the historical context of Bridgend Town Conservation Area. The extension will not only enhance the restaurant’s presence but also contribute to the long-term vision of revitalizing Bridgend’s riverside, creating a lively, pedestrian-friendly destination that connects the town’s historic core with the natural beauty of the Ogmore River.
