Bedford Heights was converted from the former Texas Instruments building into an office complex spread over 200,000 square feet in 1999. The client approached us with a vision to extend and refurbish the main reception and communal areas to improve access into the building. The main works comprise of a new glazed box extension to house a fresh reception area where a bespoke krion desk in concrete effect finish will welcome visitors on their arrival. The existing entrance will be excavated to make way for a new grand staircase formed from galvanised steel stair treads with a perforated steel handrail. A new disabled access ramp and bicycle storage with be provided at lower level to improve DDA access into the building. The proposed open-plan lounge area will be created as an extension of the reception for informal meetings and discussions. These areas will utilise views out onto the courtyards which will be landscaped to create more desirable outside spaces to existing and future tenants. At lower level a secondary informal reception will be formed connecting the new disabled access with the newly refurbished café area. The project is due to start on site in Autumn 2015.
