Over a 30 year period, numerous poorly conceived extensions were added to a beautiful 1950s flat-roofed villa bungalow, which rendered much of its original style and character redundant. We were employed to reconfigure the internal layout so that the house once again connected to the garden and to revitalise the appearance of the building. Bungalows are notoriously difficult to make look attractive and previously there were more than 5 facade materials employed on the building in an attempt to do this. We replaced them with a simple palette of render and cladding panels with timbers tones and dark grey edging. This unified the building's facade and allowed us to make and reshape openings across all four elevations. The end result is a contemporary home, designed to be lived in with open-plan spaces, views and connectivity into the large rear garden
