This Edwardian house in South London had not been refurbished since the 1970 and desperately needed updating. The proposal concentrated on reconfiguring in favour of extending and employs all three dimensions. All rooms were connected with strategic new openings and a carefully inserted double height space around a new black sculptural unit in the centre of the house, housing the kitchen, storage units, downstairs WC and 1st floor bathroom; new internal windows and open grid flooring in the hall allow borrowed light from above to enter the depth of the plan.
