ReardonSmith acted as Architect and Lead Designer and provided the technical design for the interior design envisioned by Alberto Pinto. In developing the interior design, ReardonSmith worked closely with Alberto Pinto, the hotel operations management team and several specialist craft companies in a programme of works which returned The Lanesborough to its premier status amongst the capital’s most distinguished hotels. Our role included the negotiation of all planning and listed building consents, coordination and implementation of the interior design to ensure the realisation of Alberto Pinto’s vision, full review and interior design of the back of house, redecoration and repair of the facade and full time on-site supervision of the interior design works. Few spaces in the hotel were left untouched. All 94 guestrooms were fully redecorated, all bathrooms were fully replaced with all-marble bathrooms. The Royal Suite was extended and refurbished to achieve a residence of over 250m2. The upper ground floor public rooms including the Celeste Restaurant, Withdrawing Room, Great Hall and St. Georges Room were all stripped back to shell and redesigned. The lower ground floor public rooms were refurbished and fully redecorated. Services were extensively replaced.
