ReardonSmith were appointed to regenerate 41 Abbey Road into a new build specialist age and dementia care residence located in the heart of St John’s Wood. The part retained facade development includes 26 bedrooms, restaurant, private dining room, screening room, beauty salon, spa and activities room, as well as a sensory garden with space for outdoor dining and recreation. Each space sensitively designed to incorporate age and dementia appropriate features. 41 Abbey Road provides technologically advanced features including personalised proximity sensor technology to allow individual residents to access their own private spaces and circadian lighting coordinated with automatic blinds. The building envelope is highly insulated with very low air permeability, heat recovery is provided with the ventilation to achieve high levels of energy efficiency. The development surpasses BREEAM excellent sustainability criteria. Role: Architect RIBA Stages 1-7
