Reading + West Architects were commissioned to design an exciting and substantial extension to this imposing Victorian detached house located on a backland site close to Bushy Park, Teddington, Richmond Upon Thames. The project included the construction of an exciting new build 2 storey photographers studio that was part sunk into the ground to minimise the impact on the neighbours amenity. The studio building is linked to the main house via a single storey gallery building also part below ground and including a green roof to link to the courtyard garden and landscaping beyond. The assembly of buildings is complete by the linked kitchen extension which links the new additions to the main house. The existing house was comprehensively remodelled and refurbished and we worked closely with the client to select new finishes throughout including the design of much bespoke joinery and bathrooms.
