Sited in Greenbelt land, Alteration to existing property
The conversion of a redundant agricultural building on an exposed hillside with far reaching panoramic views over the Chew Valley Green Belt. The brief was to convert and extend a stone barn with asbestos roof to provide a long term home for the Client’s growing family. A Lower Ground Floor was added to house three additional bedrooms. The house is a low-lying horizontal form that visually integrates into the surrounding landscape. The simplicity of the form is in keeping with the building’s historical and agricultural past. The material palette has been deliberately restricted and carefully selected to complement the buildings heritage and its rural setting
