Listed Building - Grade II, New Build
The Old Bank , 5 High Street , Old Town , EASTBOURNE , East Sussex , BN21 1HG
RSP were appointed at Stage 2 as part of Wates' D&B Team under the SCF Framework. Initial feasibility studies were developed to demonstrate that the 'block plan' layouts produced by others at Stage 1 could be translated into operational accommodation layouts using both the retained existing Grade II Listed Police Station building and adjoining/linked new build elements. Extensive consultation with 4 separate Stakeholders was undertaken throughout the design process to help develop the design of each specialist area and to coordinate the overall layout of the development. Accommodation included Stables for 18 horses, office and Welfare accommodation for operational and investigative Police units and Custody Suites. The design was developed to full BIM Level 2 with COBie asset data applied to products, systems, spaces and zones for use by the Client's FM teams on completion. Detailed negotiations were undertaken with the Planning Authority and their Design panel to develop appropriate forms, massing and detailing for the building particular in relation to the retained Listed Building frontage to the Street enabling Planning Consent to be granted in late 2016. Extensive V.E exercises have been carried out throughout the project to ensure the Client's budget could be maintained throughout the developing design. The project is currently being constructed on site with a planned completion date of Q1 2020
