Working with fellow architects Clifford Tee + Gale this PFI project for Kent Police was for the design of a new Police HQ serving the North Kent Area. RSP developed the design to address CABE criticisms of Police Station buildings by creating controlled access for the public into a social heart of the Station, combined with the creation of extensive landscaped areas for the public and staff. The building design comprised a 40 cell custody suite, operational police facilities and office accommodation for police and civilian departments. Custody and office areas are linked at ground floor by the public entrance and 'social' core with an axial route running through this area and out through the remainder of the site. Whilst the design was the preferred choice of Kent Police other elements of the PFI bid submission resulted in the project ending at the end of the BaFO phase of the PFI project.
