The development lies within the town centre conservation area and retains the existing High Street Post office building frontage and several mature trees. The existing Postal sorting centre to the rear was demolished to make way for a new Marks and Spencer Foodstore and coffee shop with the old post office forming the entrance shopfront .A new restaurant was set adjacent to the M&S on the High Street opening onto the retained tree lined frontage.
