The 4 detached houses are relatively modest but are still substantial volumes and a number of architectural tools have been employed. A limited palette of three materials (render, brick, slate) is used in various combinations and roof eaves levels vary. In some areas the roof is dropped to first floor level; in others flat roof single storey elements break the main building line. By avoiding strictly rectangular floor plans the buildings respond to the various interface issues presented by the site. Feature windows project into the street facing gable provide vertical emphasis and interest to the street elevations. Winner of Best Small Housing Scheme at The Sefton Design Awards.
