Race Cottam has worked closely with St Luke’s Hospice to devise a major programme of refurbishment, reconfiguration and extension to their existing facilities at Little Common Lane. The completed scheme includes the construction of a 2 storey extension to the in-patient unit providing 11 new single bedrooms with en-suite facilities, along with the reconfiguration of the existing wards into a further 3 single and 2 triple bedrooms to provide the very best facilities for both patient cost and operational efficiency. The project required meticulous phasing to ensure continuous operation of the hospice throughout the programme and the sensitive resolution of the often conflicting requirements of clinical standards and the provision of a homely ambience.
