The provision of high quality living accommodation for students and staff within an integrated campus is an essential part of Warwick University’s 2015 Vision strategy. rhp were appointed from the University’s consultant framework, following a successful competitive interview, to work collaboratively with the residences team together with the campus masterplanner and Hemingway Design who have been reviewing the University’s existing accommodation. Feedback from their studies of how students would like to live identifed a signifcant gap in the current residences portfolio. In response our approach is to create a new community offering a variety of accommodation types, sizes and range of rental costs. We have adopted the townhouse model for the accommodation which will be set in a rich existing landscape close to the main campus facilities. The University’s brief targets 1000 rooms together with 150 staff and family dwellings and central facilities hub. The strongly identifable new sustainable neighbourhood will encourage diverse, sociable and outdoor living within an accessible environment.
