Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area
Located in the Heaver Estate Conservation Area, this period home (c.1890–1910) was transformed to enhance flow, light, and connection to the garden. Earlier extensions were replaced with a bold, contemporary ground-floor addition featuring stepped volumes, varying ceiling heights, and large roof lights, creating a spacious, light-filled family room. A key feature is the full-width sliding doors that seamlessly open the interior to the patio and mature garden, blurring the line between indoors and outdoors. A new loft dormer study, accessed via a sensitively extended staircase, and glazed internal screens bring daylight deep into the house. Original period details—including cornices, mouldings, and stained glass—were preserved and complemented by clean, modern materials, achieving a harmonious balance between heritage and contemporary family living.
