Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area
This four-storey mid-Victorian terraced house in the Chelsea Conservation Area was fully refurbished, reconfigured, and extended to transform the dark, enclosed lower ground floor into a light-filled kitchen and dining space at the heart of the home. The rear floor was lowered to achieve a 2.7m ceiling height, with a garden extension and new light wells bringing daylight deep into the plan. A sculptural dog-legged staircase wraps the kitchen and dining area, creating a dramatic double-height void with views across and down into the space. Large windows, roof lights, and a planted light well enhance the sense of openness, while a fully bespoke kitchen provides generous storage and clean lines. The result is a spacious, modern living environment that remains connected to the home’s historic character.
