Burderop Park is a grade II* Manor House on the edge of the Marlborough Downs, within the North Wessex Downs area of outstanding natural beauty. The client aspired to create a residential development of 54 new houses that could enhance the sites special historic character and setting, for which Purcell achieved Planning and Listed building consent; restoring and converting the listed buildings and the proposed new build development. The masterplan scheme draws inspiration from surrounding villages and landscape; high quality, natural materials and massing defining the new build homes, each grouped around informal courtyards and gardens. It also includes the conversion of the listed buildings into residential apartments. The final scheme achieved a rich and varied residential development which seeks to sit harmoniously against the backdrop of mature trees and the wider landscape.
