New Build, Listed Building - Grade I
1st Floor, Seebhom House , 2-4 Queen Street , NORWICH , NR2 4SQ , United Kingdom
Purcell was commissioned to extend and make internal alterations to this Grade I listed Georgian terraced house overlooking Regent's Park. The historic fabric was repaired and refurbished and a new, fully glazed extension built at the rear. One of the main challenges was obtaining planning permission for the contemporary additions which was achieved by working closely with the conservation officer and Historic England. There had been numerous unsympathetic changes made to the property in the 1980s. These modern changes were unpicked to reinstate the lost form and character of the building. An unsightly rear terrace was replaced with a glazed infill, creating an exciting, light-filled space. The house was upgraded with new services throughout and new kitchen and bathrooms were introduced.
