15 Tower Bridge Road , Bermondsey , London , Greater London , SE1 3UN , United Kingdom
The Camden Town Hall project has breathed new life into a much-loved civic building—making it more open, welcoming, and useful for everyone who lives and works in the borough. The result is a space that supports community activity, champions local enterprise, and reflects Camden’s bold, inclusive identity. In an increasingly commercialised part of London, restoring Camden Town Hall was a chance to protect a civic landmark and make sure it continues to serve the public for generations to come. While many interactions with local government now happen online, town halls still hold a powerful place in our shared culture—spaces where major life events unfold and where civic identity is rooted. The project has also reaffirmed the Town Hall’s role at the heart of Camden life. We aimed to bring public services back into dignified, accessible surroundings while making the building more sustainable, inclusive, and flexible. The Town Hall now provides improved access for all users, new spaces for community use, and workspaces for local businesses. Environmentally, the upgrade significantly improved energy performance and reduced reliance on fossil fuels, with modern building services, better insulation, and bespoke secondary glazing all contributing to a BREEAM Excellent rating. This restoration signals a new era for civic buildings—where everyone is welcome, and public architecture remains a proud focal point for community life.
