The £1.1million scheme provides a new contemporary church hall building and updated centre facilities for church members and the wider community. The new building houses a large multi-purpose hall, kitchen facilities, meeting rooms and office accommodation to help meet the church’s ongoing needs and future growth. Situated in Ipswich Road, Colchester, the new design takes into account the sensitive nature of the location with little intrusion to the skyline and adjacent surroundings. It aims to provide high quality, durable, safe and practical premises meeting all functional requirements specified by the Church Building Committee. The building is sustainable, as measured by low running costs, economic maintenance and environmentally sensitive principles. New facilities are a significant improvement to the previous function and the careful design reduces noise and light impact on adjoining neighbours.
