Provender, a Grade II* listed C14th and later manor house, suffered damaging repairs when then house was ?tudorised? and its timber frame exposed, blackened and in places ?enhaced?. Cementitious render was used in between the exposed timber framing with resulting serious timber decay. At the same time C18th casements were replaced with diamond pane glazing which has slumped an is at odds with the finely panelled C18th interiors within. Reinstatement of render and window repairs is providing protection to the original timber frame and reinstating the appearance of the house closer to that shown in historic photos. The extensive repairs and refurbishment works are English Heritage grant aided with funds from an enabling development consent achieved in 2007.
