Based in a Victorian terrace that forms its own conservation area with the grade 2 listed St Matthias Church opposite, this family home runs over 3 existing storeys. The brief was to open up the ground floor of the house and connect it more intimately with the garden. Since the rear elevation is mostly north facing the key is to design with sunlight. This will have a signifant impact of health and wellbeing of the occupants connecting them more with the circadian rhythm. We carefully studied openings and orientation reviewing shading and reflections with the help of our sunlight analysis.
