The original cottage has been much extended prior to client's purchase resulting in poor layout and overall appearance detracting from the original. Brief was to provide further accommodation for a family home and unify the disparate elements. The approach was to re-orientate (to make the best of its westerly aspect) and re-order the original cottage and extensions with an entirely new wing to become the front of the house. Associated pruning and additions to the remainder to unity the design were undertaken. Materials used for the new wing were Greensand ashlar stone with timber sliding sash windows. An impressive glazed loggia with stone columns was also added to face west across open countryside.
