PROJECT BRIEF: Full remodelling of a residential dwelling. PROJECT INFO: Prestige Architects was appointed to remodel this magnificent, terraced townhouse in the heart of Knightsbridge, London. The original layout and façade were lost following major works carried out in the 1970s and the client’s brief was to reinstate and restore the property to its former glory. Recognising the potential of structural reconfiguration of the property, Prestige Architects removed all internal floors and partitions to create a new layout in line with the rest of the houses in the terrace. Along with full replanning of the five storeys, this restoration granted the property the first impression it truly deserved. The front façade was restored with a sympathetic design that observed conservation guidelines and reflected the true age and stature of the property. To honour and maintain the authenticity of the townhouse, timber panelling was installed throughout in-keeping with original character. The layout was altered to create four bedrooms and incorporate the existing vault as wine cellar and office on the lower ground floor.
