Winner of a York Design Award 2015. Standing in a beautiful setting at the end of Church Lane, Nether Poppleton, St. Everilda's Church has origins dating back to the 7th century, but much has changed over the many centuries. It is one of only two churches in the UK dedicated to the Saxon Saint Everilda. The current building boasts medieval origins with stained glass dating to the 13th century. As well as Sunday worship the church is a very popular wedding venue and so the Parochial Church Council decided they should now provide modern facilities for those using the building. PPIY Architects were instructed to design a modest extension to accommodate an accessible toilet, kitchenette and some storage. Materials were chosen to match the existing building in order to blend in with medieval fabric and later Victorian interventions. Local builder Tom Rhodes and Sons Ltd were appointed as Main Contractor to supply the build. The PCC report that the new facilities are much appreciated by all who use the church.
