Conversion and renovation of 16th century tythe barn to form private house. This project involved detailed listed building and planning applications to convert a semi-derelict former agricultural structure into a bespoke private dwelling in association with histroic buildings experts, archaelogical archivists, dendro-dating experts, local authority conservation team, green oak specialists, ecologists structural engineers and the local community. The building was dismantled back to the basic oak frame, stabilised and then pains-takingly reformed. The result is a sensitive refurbishment achieving a highly thermally efficient inner skin including underfloor heating via an air sourced heat pump with minimal impact on the original remaining structure. Internally a contemporary finish allows the existing oak frame to be expressed within a predominantly double height space.
