NW10 is a family home, conceived as a piece of architectural sculpture by its clients – a gallerist and artist. The house rises to the challenges of its tight infill site, addressing the street with a slim two storey elevation that references the neighbouring Edwardian façades, whilst to the rear it splays out into a series of cascading forms and terraces to fit the triangular site. Internally, bold materials, daylight and sculptural forms create playful architectural surprises as rooms and volumes flow into each other, and the house’s previously unperceived size is revealed. The house has created provocative spaces for the placing of the couple’s art collection.
