A contemporary refurbishment, loft conversion and rear extension in the Lea Manor Conservation Area. Attention was paid to every detail in a cohesive and balanced blend of traditional and modern styles. Natural slate roof tiles replaced the existing concrete tiles to enhance the character of the building. An elegantly crafted zinc-clad dormer is characterised by sharply chamfered edges framing the full-width picture window. Vertical rib joints in the zinc cladding articulate the cheeks of the dormer and are formed into a discreet rainwater channel. The project was highly praised by the local planning authority as an exemplar approach to contemporary design in a conservation area. The client says: "... Great ideas and keen attention to detail - definitely the architect to have in your corner if you're taking on a project of any scale."
