Alteration to existing property
Here we had a brief to use local brick to provide a single-storey extension with a contemporary feel that reflects the Art Deco style of the existing detached house. The extension runs the full width of the house and opens up the back to create a large open-plan kitchen-diner. Some further internal remodelling also adds an additional bedroom and shower room downstairs. We also added a small side extension to house a utility room and link to the garage, which is to be insulated and converted into a multi-purpose space, getting more use than it does currently. The proposal uses staffordshire brick, contrasting with the render of the existing house, large crittal style glazing to the rear, and rooflights will illuminate the space and add character. The client plans to change the windows of the house to match the new crittal glazing also. Consent was granted in December 2020 and is nearly complete on site!
