New 3 tandem bay Whole Time Fire Station at Rochester with Fire Training Facilities, a Driver Training Centre for Kent Fire & Rescue Service, and a Road Safety Education Centre. The Road Safety Centre is the first of its type being developed by the Authority, building on their successful ‘Licence to Kill’ road safety scheme. This exciting initiative facility will enable schools and colleges to bring groups of young people to the Centre and participate in supervised education visits. The new road safety training facilities are aimed at educating visitors to reduce youth traffic accidents and road fatalities via innovative and interactive style exhibits, courses and demonstration, providing essential road safety skills for young people across the county. The Fire Station will provide a base for shift (24 hour) staff to respond from. The appliance area accommodates 6 vehicles which comprise of 3 tandem bays. It will also be occupied by the group Management staff from Monday to Friday. This project was delivered using BIM and the Pick Everard teams’ collaborative working methods to provide a fully integrated building model design.
