As Lead Designer and Architect, Pick Everard fully captured the Client's vision and developed designs in creating a high performance building with open-plan spaces for testing vehicles, housed within a building with a strong visual aesthetic to act as a gateway to a main artery through the campus, in support of the University's masterplan vision. On completion IMEC will provide a distinctive, inspiring and sustainable development, in alignment with the University's available budget. To ensure stakeholders were given the chance to input, we led an intensive programme of workshops to involve them in the design development process. We were able to incorporated numerous changes as a result by taking a flexible approach, including designing a new opening into one of the walls to allow vehicles to be lifted in with a forklift.
