P+HS is working with Whickham Villa LLP and Erimus Housing to develop proposals for a state of the art facility in Middlehaven to support and rehabilitate people with neurological conditions. “The Gateway” development proposals aim to create comprehensive facilities that will be the only of their kind in the UK consisting of a residential rehabilitation facility, and community health and wellbeing centre alongside high quality step-forward housing and apartments offering a range of transitional and supported living options. Boda Gallon, Chief Executive at Whickham Villa said “Our concept is that this centre will create first class facilities and services to support people with brain injuries, neurological conditions and other complex needs to help rehabilitate them so they can live with independence and a good quality of life.” The initiative has been developed to support the NHS in terms of reducing long term costs at nearby hospitals through quicker discharge while also improving the care outcomes for the client. Initial proposals also include plans to provide accommodation to support a range of independent community therapy services, vocational rehabilitation, advice and support services from social enterprise, charitable, statutory and education partners for use by residents and non residents.
