This project encompassed a large extension and through-house remodelling to enable a detached bungalow to be made suitable for our disabled client. The adapted property now features contemporary open-plan family spaces with direct access out to the large, rear decked area. The client’s new accommodation features carefully designed, modern care equipment allowing seamless hoist transitions between the therapy space, bedroom and specialist en-suite. The family had clear objectives for the spaces to feel airy and open, maximise natural light and feature controllable environments for when the client requires more or less stimulation, depending on her condition. Within the client’s domain, we utilised vaulted ceilings, large skylights and colour-changing LED lighting to create a modern environment, which can be adapted to suit her mood. PHP worked closely with the family and care team throughout the design and construction phase to ensure the client’s complex needs were met. We were also able to reflect on our wealth of knowledge and experience in the sector to ensure all spaces are fully accessible, durable in materiality and high-quality finishes for an affordable price.
