A new country cottage replacing a derelict bungalow on a 0.12 hectare site located on a north facing slope, in the New Forest National Park. The design was conceived as a traditional Oak framed, thatched roof structure, with lime rendered walls. The plan form is symmetrical about a central double height space containing kitchen and living areas, with projecting single storey bedroom wings, all facing south. The cottage has a large basement below the living areas. A ground source linear pump system provides the heat source for the under floor heating and hot water. The cottage, together with the thatched roof double garage, suggests a simple grouping of agricultural buildings.
