Barratts 2020’s Homes was a national design competition hosted by Barratt Homes in conjunction with the Architects Journal. The brief was to design a family of house types for 2020 and beyond. One for each of the four specified buyer categories: first time, young families, older families and multi-generational families. Pegasus design made a submission, which challenged us to rethink the way we use and live and use our homes. The designs were all based around the concept of a Pod system, made from a ‘Kit of parts’. This allowed us to create a range of types that were adaptable but consistent. The final product was a beautiful family of house types.
