New Build
10 High Street , Tadcaster , Yorkshire , LS24 9AT , United Kingdom
Needing more office space the practice acquired a site and set about designing a new building for their own use. Construction followed on the basis of a negotiated contract The development comprises two blocks linked by the entrance hall and main stairs, and provides nearly 600sqm gross floor area on two floors, together with soft landscaping and parking. Pearce Bottomley Architects occupy one block, whilst the remainder is let to tenants. Its proximity to the A1(M) motorway dictated a predominantly single aspect building turning its back on the traffic noise. The low key, low profile appearance was determined by its location on the edge of Aberford village close to residential properties, with traditional forms and materials being used in deference to its sensitive semi-rural location.
