The concept of the development was to provide an 80-bed nursing home and six bungalows set within a secure environment and landscaped grounds. The scheme is split into two defined structures. The 80-bed nursing home forms the main building and is sited on the north and east boundaries which border Newgate Lane/ Gosport Road and Redlands Lane. The building is a three-storey block with the road frontage defined as four residential blocks linked by recessed elements. A curved glazed feature element containing a double height residents lounge occurs where the building borders the corner of the site to form an ‘L’ shape on plan. This follows the defined boundary of the road layout, providing a staggered building facing the thoroughfare of Newgate Lane, which is a major access corridor for Fareham and Gosport.
