Barnet

Set within the leafy surroundings of Hampstead Heath, this corner-site residence has been thoughtfully reimagined by Paul Cahillane Studio. Acting as lead architects, the studio oversaw the full refurbishment and extension of the property, enhancing both its spatial quality and architectural presence. The project involved a substantial reworking of the house, including the excavation and extension of the lower ground floor and the addition of a new loft space. In total, nearly 150 sqm of new space was added, significantly increasing the home’s footprint. At the heart of the design is a new open-plan living space on the lower ground floor. Improved circulation and a rationalised staircase configuration have transformed the internal layout, allowing natural light to flow more freely throughout the home. Large Crittall-style glazed doors frame views onto the garden, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor connection and introducing a contemporary counterpoint to the home’s more traditional elements. The proposals secured planning consent in February 2023, with construction completing in early 2024.
